We are looking for a new CIO to join the MetLife Colombia team

This role is responsible for the development and execution of the Colombia IT strategy, engaging with in-country managers (business and functions) as focal point for IT, partnering with regional tech leaders and coordinating overall cross tower activities, holding accountability for the end-to-end IT services in Colombia operations.

What will you do in this role…

  • Leads the in-country Application Development team ensuring the right level of service delivery. Coordinates all IT towers to ensure a seamless service.

  • Represents IT in the country manager´s local management committee. Acts as the local business deputy in IT forums, especially with the different IT towers.

  • Ensures local implementation of global IT operational model. Drives the implementation and sustainability of the Agile Delivery Model in Colombia.

  • Assures the implementation and execution of global methodologies, processes and IT standards.

  • Coordinates the management of talent locally deployed, procuring the deployment of the right talent in the right place in the overall local IT organization.

  • Recommends the right sourcing (service outsourcing, consultants or employees) to cover the specific local talent needs.

  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of Colombia IT budget being accountable in front of CFO and Country Manager.

To contribute to your success, it is important that…

  • Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field. MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of broad IT experience, including application development, architecture, risk management, operations and engineering.Background in financial services industry or insurance operations.

  • 5+ years of experience managing teams

  • Extensive knowledge of software development life cycle, infrastructure products and services and IT portfolio and program management.

  • Executive level technical and customer service management experience.

  • Extensive business acumen with broad range of exposure to business units.

  • Relevant knowledge of agile methodologies (SAFe is preferred).

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and project management skills as well as understanding insurance business operations, financial analysis and business research, development and planning

  • High leadership skills, integrity, and trustworthiness; Driven, highly motivated, confident, and assertive.

  • Superior customer relationship, communications and presentation skills.

  • Impactful capacity to lead talent through motivational leadership practices. Strong drive to lead and work in remote/hybrid collaborative work environments.

  • Negotiation: Demonstrates strong skills that produce positive outcomes for concerned parties.

  • Conflict Resolution: Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills to resolve conflict.

  • English & Spanish language proficiency.
