Quality Control Analyst I or ll in Springfield, MO

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The QC laboratory operates 24/7/365. This role may be assigned to the 2nd or 3rd shift depending on current staffing and training/qualifications.

The Quality Control Analyst is an integral part of the CURIA team, contributing to our success by testing raw materials, intermediates, finished goods and bulk pharmaceuticals, as well as in-process production testing in compliance with the requirements of CURIA. The QC Analyst is expected to provide fast, accurate and efficient analytical support to the department’s customers, both internal and external.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform cGMP analysis of samples utilizing analytical instrumentation and methodology including:

  • Spectrophotometry: ultraviolet and infrared.

  • Chromatography: Thin layer, GC, Head Space GC, HPLC and UPLC.

  • Particle size analysis: Manual Sieve, Jet Sieve and Laser diffraction

  • pH measurement

  • Wet Chemistry: Karl Fischer (water determinations), visual and potentiometric titrations, gravimetric determinations,

  • Visual inspection: visual color and clarity determinations.

  • Other analytical qualitative and quantitative determinations.

  • Use Computer technology: Empower chromatography data acquisition system, SAP, and Microsoft Office

  • Will understand the scientific and chemical terms and definitions used in the lab and in the methods.

  • Follow written methodology to make solvents and reagents used in the laboratory.

  • Conduct standardizations of the solutions and calibrations of the instruments.

  • Develop proficiency in analytical methods by analyzing all raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and bulk pharmaceuticals.

  • Will adhere to documentation practices required in a regulated environment

  • Ensure priorities of the department are met by coordinating and changing priorities as needed to provide the maximum service to customers.

  • Provide consistent, accurate results by attention to detail and using correct mathematical skills.

  • Communicate analytical testing results clearly and accurately.

  • Perform or monitor multiple analyses simultaneously.

  • Actively participate in training and development to continuously increase knowledge of CURIA policy and procedures, software systems and analytical instrumentation

  • Troubleshoot instruments and methods.

  • At times may train other technicians on instruments and methods

  • At times may perform analysis of reference standards, stability samples and authentic samples.

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:

Required

  • A minimum of two years of college education in a science discipline, with at least six hours of chemistry credits OR a combination of education and/or experience working in an analytical laboratory setting

  • Willingness to work an 8 hour night shift after training

Strongly Preferred

  • BS or BA degree in a science discipline

  • Good knowledge of analytical chemistry including wet chemistry and instrumental methods of analysis.

  • Strong computer and math skills.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work with changing priorities in a high pressure environment with shift flexibility.

  • Experience with Empower CDS
