Our client in San Francisco is seeking a technical accounting professional. In this interim role, you will be tasked with drafting and implementing a revenue recognition policy in compliance with ASC 606 and other regulatory standards. Your day-to-day duties will involve a deep dive into existing accounting practices, collaborating with diverse teams, and offering guidance on complex transactions. This position falls within the Controller job function and is set within a contract employment framework.

Responsibilities:

• Draft a revenue recognition policy that is ready for auditing in line with ASC 606 guidelines.

• Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing accounting practices, pinpointing areas for enhancement to ensure compliance with regulatory norms.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to collect necessary data and insights for policy development.

• Provide technical expertise on revenue recognition issues, especially concerning complex transactions and contract structures.

• Facilitate the implementation of the revenue recognition policy across the organization, which includes hosting training sessions and documenting processes.

• Partner with external auditors to ease the audit process and address any queries related to revenue recognition policies and practices.

• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations, and proactively assess their impact on the organization's financial reporting processes.

• Utilize your skills in Auditing, ASC 606, US GAAP, and Draft Documents to excel in the role.

Requirements • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position

• Proficiency in Auditing is required

• Knowledge of ASC 606 is essential

• Comprehensive understanding and application of US GAAP principles is mandatory

• Experience in Drafting Documents is necessary

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical, strategic planning and organizational skills

• Proven leadership and team management abilities

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree preferred

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus

• Must have a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

• Strong business and common sense skills, and ability to exercise sound judgement

• Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software.
