Job Summary

This is an On-Site position: The IT Manager is a dynamic and proactive leader, responsible for overseeing comprehensive IT projects, clients, and team members. The incumbent must be highly organized, adept in managing IT systems, have systems administration experience and be familiar with network concepts and configurations.

This role requires the ability to train staff in new technologies, manage HR processes such as hiring and on boarding, supporting departmental projects, and creating support documentation. The incumbent must be well-versed in IT best practices, MDM solutions, and ITIL processes. Additionally, the IT Manager is expected to build client relationships, maintain a friendly demeanor, and collaborate with leadership to enhance support for the broader university community.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and goals that support the organization and individual department IT needs.

  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.

  • Plan, organize, control, evaluate, assist and oversee implementation of IT projects by managing and acting as a systems administrator as needed.

  • Ensure staff are utilizing standard processes and information systems to improve services and efficiencies.

  • Maintain and audit equipment inventories for all clientele.

  • Manage yearly agreements or contracts for computer support of individual departments.

  • Writing technical and how-to documentation for staff projects.

  • Equipment ordering processes.

  • Manage and support the department’s MDM solutions.

  • Position requires travel on and off campus using personal vehicle.

  • Expected to be part of an on-call rotation and be available outside of normal business hours for client or staff needs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

  • Project management experience.

  • SCCM setup, configuration and maintenance.

  • Use and/or knowledge of automation software solutions.

  • Jamf management and configuration experience.

  • Networking experience.

  • ITIL Foundation Certification.

  • A+, MCSE , CCNA , Network+, or other applicable certifications.
