Reporting to the EHS Director for North and South America, the Senior Environmental Health and Safety Regional Manager will be an integral part of ZF’s global EHS team, sitting out of ZF’s Regional headquarters in Northville, Michigan. As the Senior EHS Regional Manager, the goal is to provide consistent, expert-level guidance, leadership, and training surrounding critical EHS topics within several manufacturing and technical centers throughout the United States and Canada.

What you can look forward to as the Senior HSE:

  • Provide Point-of-contact interface and services to Regional (North/South America) or Global Business Unit VP/GM and Management Team in relation to all aspects of EHS.

  • Provide full service and knowledgeable EHS support to multiple facilities to successfully implement all legal requirements, the ZF EHS Management System requirements and meet ZF and Business Unit specific performance goals.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and integration of specific EHS program initiatives (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics; Serious injury and fatality prevention; EHS auditing; Employee involvement; and Safety Excellence) as assigned.

  • Lead at least one EHS global initiative, and conduct HSE Compliance and Management Systems audits and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.

  • Support assigned location Management Teams and EHS Resources in formulation and achievement of EHS objectives and targets and advise on policy and regulatory matters.

  • Support assigned sites with developing and implementing various EHS related corrective/improvement action plans.

  • Manage, develop, and provide or direct applicable EHS training for employees, supervisors, and management team.

  • Support assigned sites as they interface with external EHS regulators, in the event of site inspections (EPA/MoE, OSHA/MoL, DOT, ATF, etc.), reviews or operational inquiries.

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement policies and procedures to assure awareness and compliance with all HSE requirements of ZF and regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, DOT, MoL, MoE, etc.)

  • Ability to serve as Remediation Project Manager for nine projects in the US and Canada, this is TBD and as needed.

Your profile as the Senior EHS Regional Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental and /or Safety Engineering and Management or closely related field

  • Twelve+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with emphasis on safety/environmental management.

  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of EHS compliance (local, state, and federal) regulations that are applicable to the sites supported.

  • Experience in implementing and managing EHS Management System requirements and ISO 14001 & ISO45001 EMS certification requirements desirable.

  • Thorough knowledge in relation to developing processes and practices related to the following key areas: Industrial Hygiene, EHS Management Systems; Waste Management, Energy Management, Behavior Based Safety; Ergonomics; Risk Assessment and Reduction and Serious Injury and Fatality Prevention.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and managerial skills

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Must have the ability to travel up to 50%

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) and CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) strongly preferred.
