Robert Half Property Accountant in New York, New York

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Property Accountant in the Real Estate & Property industry. Based in New York, the successful candidate will be responsible for various accounting functions in relation to residential properties.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and reconcile the general ledgers for multiple residential properties with minimal supervision.

• Create and maintain work papers to support account balances.

• Compile monthly reporting packages and ensure compliance with reporting deadlines on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals.

• Perform duties outside their normal responsibilities as needed and when requested.

• Utilize skills in Microsoft Excel, Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Cash Activity, Yardi, MRI, Account Reconciliation, and Property Accounting.

• Ensure accurate handling of all accounting processes within the real estate industry, with a focus on residential real estate. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software such as Yardi and MRI.

• Experience in performing accounting functions, including account reconciliation and property accounting.

• Ability to handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) duties efficiently.

• Knowledge in monitoring and managing cash activity.

• Understanding of financial principles and practices relevant to real estate and property industry.

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.

• Compliance with ethical standards in financial management and accounting practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

• Professional accounting certification, such as CPA or CMA, would be advantageous.

• Familiarity with financial regulations and legislation.

• Strong problem-solving abilities.

• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

• Willingness to continuously improve and update knowledge and skills.
