Job Description

PRODUCTION PROCESS TECHNICIAN – FLOAT – Lipase, AOx and Ray FD Plant

Starting pay at $22.25/hr., Scheduled overtime, shift and weekend premiums available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all quality systems including, but not limited to, ISO 9001, Food Safety GMP’s, HACCP, FSSC 22000, NSF, ICH Q7, with an understanding of IFF’s Quality Policy and procedures.

  • Comply with all Company policies including, but not limited to, Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMP's, HAACP, and Attendance.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions to make the necessary adjustments in the production process, such as adjusting control instrumentation, and moving products and raw materials.

  • Load and unload process equipment.Prepare materials for blending. This requires weighing and mixing raw materials in accordance with batch ticket specification, filling equipment with appropriate materials, and moving raw materials, equipment, and final products throughout the plant.

  • Maintain accurate written records or logs of all production processes/equipment/maintenance/routine cleaning.

  • Monitor and check inventory of production materials and supplies as necessary.

  • Assemble and disassemble production equipment as required by processes and Work Instructions.

  • Use and dispense chemicals in a safe and appropriate manner, according to labeling and information systems, such as HMIS, SDS and NFPA.

  • Recognize atypical/incorrect conditions in the production area and contact the appropriate authority.

  • Clean, sanitize, and sterilize all production/packaging equipment and other process areas in the plant.

  • Assist in maintaining process and non-process areas in compliance with current regulatory agencies.

Job Requirements

To be a multi-use employee that can work in all of the areas of the NEP plant. The float position will be assigned to perform work duties in the absence of others or in an area where the workload has increased. To mix, blend, formulate, and package batches of raw ingredients and materials into finished antioxidant products, rennet paste, liquid coagulants, flavors, and dry blended Lipase powders. To process and package cultures produced at the Freeze Dry plant. To monitor and maintain specified parameters for products. To package other products, such as samples and special labeled products for shipping to customers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have a high school education or equivalent, a successful work history, the ability to work as a team player, and proven mechanical ability.

  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using percentages and decimals, and be able to utilize the metric system for measurement.

  • Must be able to read, communicate, comprehend, and follow oral and written procedures and instructions.

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Must have the basic understanding of computers to retrieve and enter data on a database, communicated via team pass down e-mails and to navigate the internet for safety training.

  • Should be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to fifty-five (55) pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and move throughout the plant; move and maneuver seven hundred fifty (750) pounds with mechanical assistance.

  • Must have the ability to reach, grasp, handle, and use manual dexterity to operate equipment controls.

  • Must be able to differentiate changes in color, and detect problems with machinery and problems in the production process.

  • Must be able to wear proper PPE and Respiratory protection, when required.

  • Knowledge of production processes, quality assurance, quality control, costs and site specific quality programs such as GMP’s, HACCP, FSSC 22000, NSF, ICH Q7, etc.

Working Conditions:

  • This position operates in plant environments. Work is performed in temperatures ranging from negative ten (-40) degrees to seventy five (78) degrees Fahrenheit. Conditions may be wet, slippery, humid, and dusty.
