With offices in the U.S., London and Asia Pacific, Talbot is the managing agent of Syndicate 1183 at Lloyd’s. Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance. Through its expert team of underwriters and a balanced, geographically diverse portfolio of business, Talbot has earned a reputation as an industry-leading insurance and reinsurance specialist.

How you will create an impact

The Talbot Hull team provides coverage for many types of commercial vessel and pleasure craft, on an all risks or total loss only basis. As a Class Underwriter in the Hull team, you will play a key role in servicing and growing the portfolio further.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to.

• Facilitate expedient turnaround of submissions and quotes.

• Support new business, exposure growth and diversification of the portfolio.

• Be a presence in the Loyd’s market to maintain and develop broker relationships.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Experience as a Lloyd’s market Hull Underwriter is essential.

• Detailed knowledge of a broad range of marine Hull products.

• Chartered Insurance Institute – Advanced Diploma or at least 5 years underwriting experience.

• Able to operate independently with little direction or guidance. Self-reliance, use of initiative – a “self-starter”.

• Able to prioritize.

• Strong team work ethic.

• Verbal, written and professional presence and ability to communicate at all levels with excellent negotiation skills.
