Baxter Sr Mgr. Power Generation in Jayuya, Puerto Rico

This role is the most advanced (master) level to ensure power continuity in the network of Baxter sites on the island of Puerto Rico. Work involves and requires serving in a lead role in the preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities on engine-driven emergency power generation systems and related electrical equipment installed to support the collection and treatment of municipal wastewater and the production, storage and distribution of potable water.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requires the administrative and lead worker duties associated with a multi-person maintenance work center.

  • Requires multi-site duties associated with

    o a multiple-site generator maintenance and repair of (8) Diesel Generators above 2MW in size, and at least 5 units of 30 KW in size. Units range in age of 40 years to brand new Tier 4 units.

    o selection and management of spare parts and spare parts systems.

    o selection and management of spare parts and spare parts systems.

  • Energy management of diesel fuel consumption reports and aiding the environmental technician with regulatory reporting.

  • Requires a CDL, or the abililty gain and hold a CDL.

  • Managing a working vehicle with POL and tool sets needed from site to site.

  • 24/7 operations may be needed depending upon storm activity.

  • Daily & Weekly communication with island power authorities, project communication with local and corporate engineering teams, & appropriate partnership & communication with purchasing organizations.

  • Managing all support POL systems and suppliers, including active fuel polishing systems, delivery systems, distribution systems and spares suppliers.

  • Managing the electrical monitoring devices of incoming external power and managing the switch over and up flow of critical equipment.

  • Responsible for training of other gen techs, and managing their skill sets and all training

    Graduation from high school, Bachelor’s Degree preferred; maintenance career path certification as a Generator Technician III; extensive experience in the operation, installation, and repair of internal combustion engine-driven generator sets, and related electrical equipment; experience in the installation and maintenance of three-phase electric motors and motor control circuits; experience in the administration of a maintenance work team; and a valid commercial Class A motor vehicle operator's license and CDL.
