North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive Assistant/Associate Professor, Family and Consumer Sciences in Greensboro, North Carolina

Description:

Assistant/Associate Professor with a 9-month, tenure track appointment. Primary responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in family and consumer sciences and family and consumer sciences education, advising, supervising, and recruiting students, coordinating program concentrations, participating in curriculum development, establishing a research program through collaborations and grant writing, serving on department, college and university committees and participating in other academic functions.

Appointment rank will be based on level of experience.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is one of four academic departments within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in three program areas with the following six distinct specialty emphases: child development and family studies (non-licensure), child development early education and family studies (birth-kindergarten licensure), consumer sciences, fashion merchandising and design, food and nutritional sciences (human nutrition) and food and nutritional sciences (food science). The department offers a Master of Science degree in one program area, food and nutritional sciences. Additionally, the department offers the Master of Arts in Teaching in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and the Master of Arts in Teaching in Child Development, Early Education, and Family Studies (B-K). Faculty members are actively engaged in research that contributes to the body of knowledge in the areas of nutrition, food science, housing, apparel, textiles and family issues.

Requirements:

Doctorate (completed by date of appointment) in family and consumer sciences education or closely related field from an accredited university, demonstrated ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in family and consumer sciences, successful experience teaching family and consumer sciences at the secondary level, strong technology skills related to delivery of distance education, documented record of scholarly achievement and grant writing experience.

Preferred:

At least three years teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level preferred.

Experience supervising student teachers and students enrolled in supervised intern programs.
