Ecolab Engineering & Maintenance Manager in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania

Job Overview: This position is responsible for maintenance and engineering operations, PM Pillar, as well as project implementation. Also, identifies training needs and makes recommendations.  

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop maintenance policies, practices and procedures, prepares reports for and makes appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Manages engineering staff, reliability team leaders, maintenance group leders and non-union employees.
  • Meets financial targets including budgets and KPIs. Assists in preparation and recommends annual budget for the maintenance area.
  • Manage maintenance department activities to ensure the safe and continuous operation of manufacturing equipment, including preventive maintenance plan.
  • Manges and completes plan capital budget and projects.
  • Ensures plant, equipment and apparatus are in proper and safe operating condition through preventive maintenance of the facilities and staff meetings to discuss operations, scheduling, and status of current and future jobs.
  • Estimates, writes and /or checks appropriation requests for equipment and construction for corporate management approval.
  • Receives quotes for purchases, evaluates then selects and purchases new equipment or recommends changes to existing equipment to reduce maintenance costs while exercising budget control.
  • Plans for replacement and/or major repairs to keep the units operating and keep buildings and equipment in good operating condition.
  • Responsible for selecting, training and supervising technicians and crafts people. Conducts performance reviews, initiates salary adjustments as required. Develops safety training methods and tools for staff.
  • Leads PM Pillar by defining the system to increase plant reliability and systematically drive waste out of the plant system though loss identification trees. Responsible for leading TPM teams to attack losses associated with breakdowns, speed, short stops, planned maintenance and spare parts management.
  • Supports and is committed to Nalco Company, Ellwood City Plant safety, health, environmental, security and quality principles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • 5 years of chemical industry experience, preferably in a plant environment.
  • Process management expertise
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Success in motivating subordinates and others, delegation, conflict management, achieving results and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects through all stages.
  • Knowledge of TPM principles.
