Packaging Engineer II - (Hot fill/Cold fill/Aseptic)

The Packaging Engineer II is responsible for the development and execution of new rigid packaging. This includes conducting trials and experiments to validate new bottle designs, materials, and packaging technologies. The role entails supporting project commissioning’s either individually or collectively as a part of the packaging development team. This role will also work closely with cross functional team members to develop opportunities related to packaging, sustainability, and productivity.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of packaging specifications, related test methods and SOPs

  • Provide onsite support for the launch of new packaging and products

  • Travel: Minimum of 50% to domestic bottling plants and/or technical trainings

  • Support cross-departmental knowledge of packaging related best practices, root cause analysis and solutions to quality issues

  • Independently manage projects without direct supervision

  • Provide training to factory personnel on packaging tests and standards

  • Knowledge of different beverage products and processes including but not limited to: Hot fill, Cold fill, CSD, and Aseptic

  • Knowledge of various packaging component materials such as PET and HDPE along with their beverage applications

  • Knowledge of injection molding and blow molding

  • Knowledge of TOPs or CAPE software

  • Create detailed reports and presentations to present to leadership

Competencies

  • Strong Design of Experiment, Statistical Process Control and data analysis skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, technical writing and presentation skills

  • Knowledge of the bottle industry, related processes, supply chain and raw material requirements

  • Ability to multitask independently, managing vendors, budgets and leading teams to accomplish project goals

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies

  • In-depth knowledge of beverage products and different beverage processes (including but are not limited to: hot fill, cold fill, HTST, CSD, and low acid aseptic)

  • Great understanding of the CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, Verification) process

  • Project management competencies - planning, budgeting, schedule tracking, vendor management, and cost controls

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work well in collaborative group environments

  • Good technical writing and presentation skills

  • Must be well organized

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred

  • Ability to work independently and with limited direction

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 Years – Experience in Food & Beverage or similar manufacturing environment

  • 1 - 3 Years – Experience in position

  • 3+ Years – Experience in Food & Beverage or similar manufacturing environment

  • 3+ Years – Experience in position

  • 3+ Years – Experience managing people/projects

Education

  • Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or other related field

  • Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or other related field

Certification/License:

  • Required: N/A

  • Preferred: CPLP Technologist, CPLP Technician , CPP

Pay Rate Type: Salary

$95,301.00 - $138,186.00 / Yearly
