SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Specialty Channels and Trade, leads a team responsible for the overall US channel and trade strategies across a portfolio of pharmacy and medical benefit products. This individual and his/her team are responsible for identifying, evaluating, analyzing, and recommending strategic channel approaches and ensuring they are effectively executed. Specifically, it is the responsibility of this individual to help drive 1) product accessibility and 2) product performance via tailored services (delivered courtesy of Channel and Trade partners. The Senior Director, Specialty Channels and Trade is a member of the Patient Acquisition leadership team, reporting to the Vice President of Patient Acquisition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the US Trade function including:

  • Overseeing strategic approach and development/negotiation of key distribution agreements with wholesalers, distributors, specialty pharmacies, 3PL and other relevant channel partners

  • Developing effective distribution models for current and future Lundbeck products in alignment with brand strategies

  • Overseeing team’s day-to-day management of trade partners

  • Ensuring development of and team’s compliance with key reporting metrics, inventory levels

  • Overseeing management of day-to-day customer operations (e.g., class of trade, return provisions, direct purchasing requirements, REMS customer set up)

  • Delivering value-additive services at favorable contract terms

  • Leads the Supply chain management function including:

  • Overseeing management of 3PL distribution partners in US

  • Overseeing import and export of product, providing managerial oversight of customs regulations and product storage label requirements

  • Overseeing state license renewal requirements, ensuring no disruption to Lundbeck licensing (as defined by state-specific requirements)

  • Overseeing Product Replacement Program, ensuring for compliance to Program requirements

  • Accountable for inventory integrity at distribution sites, ensuring for adequate days on hand and achievement of quality standards.

  • Leads the Specialty Channels function including:

  • Defining the appropriate channel partners who are capable of delivering unique capabilities that drive product accessibility and product performance.

  • Overseeing a team responsible for the management of critical Channel relationships (including Specialty Infusion Providers)

  • Supporting development of future innovative Specialty Channel strategies and enhancements to support business needs.

  • Acting as the main point of contact with leadership on all matters pertaining to Specialty Channel performance

  • Builds, develops, and leads an industry-leading team of Channel & Trade professionals including:

  • Cultivating a high performance culture with strong accountability; Actively participating in shaping the overall culture of the Patient Acquisition team supporting talent attraction, retention, and career-development

  • Collaborates and partners.

  • with legal, finance, commercial operations and analytics, payer field team, marketing, sales and government affairs

  • with accounting to measure success of contracts and evaluate and communicate contract performance to internal stakeholders

  • with stakeholders to review GTN practices, identify opportunities to save, and establish best practices to make tangible improvements to P&L

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree

  • 10+ years of experience in Market Access, strategic pricing, trade and/or relevant payer function

  • 6+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry

  • Previous people management experience and leading teams.

  • Strong executive presentation and communication skills – with exceptional aptitude ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of payer and trade/distribution channels (commercial, government, SP, GPOs, etc.)

  • Ability to network across a broad internal and external matrix organization and the skills necessary to form strong, productive partnerships and build consensus and acumen.

  • Strategic thinker that is able to see strategic and operational trends and relate their impact to the bigger strategic picture (applying potential legislative changes across the business, understanding GTN drivers and explaining to the business, contracting effects on business, etc.)

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS:

  • MBA or other relevant master's degree preferred.

  • Experience in infusion biologics and pharmacy benefit products

  • Experience with Specialty (including Oncology) and/or Rare diseases therapeutic areas.

  • Experience with a product launch

  • Advanced training in market access discipline, including strategies and tactics for launches, ongoing promotion, and loss of exclusivity.

  • Experience writing, executing, and negotiating contract language (payer and/or trade)

  • Experience modeling payer scenarios/government policy changes

TRAVEL:

  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 25% domestically. International travel may be required.

The range displayed is a national range, and if selected for this role, may vary based on various factors such as the candidate’s geographical location, qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $240,000 - $270,000 and eligibility for a 30% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company’s long-term incentive plan.
