CLEVELAND METROPARKS Project Manager in Cleveland, Ohio

The Project Manager coordinates the planning, design, specifications, budget, obtaining of bids/quotes, contracting, and management of contracted consultants and outside contractors.

*Essential Functions: *

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
  2. Manages construction projects: Manages and oversees projects per the drawings, specifications and details outlined in contracts; facilitates construction obstacles and challenges that arise during construction; visits site to review the site and meet with contractors.
  3. Estimates costs for construction projects: Develops detailed projected costs for projects through experience, historic accounting, and internal and external resources; develops and produces quote/bid books to obtain exact costs for projects.
  4. Solves problems that arise on construction projects: Reviews Request for Further Information document(s) submitted by contractor and offers solutions to keep associated costs to a minimum; assists with problem-solving other issues or unforeseen conditions, as needed
  5. Prepares construction projects for public bids: Deciphers information given from architect and engineers and assembles into a working document that can be publically bid; solves renovation issues by conducting on-site review of the issues; bid work out to contractors and oversee completion of the work.
  6. Conducts meetings on- and off-site: Ensures communication and coordination is kept among the project and contractors; conducts coordination meetings, safety meetings, pre- bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, and progress meetings, in addition to in-house meetings for construction projects that go out to bid.
  7. Reviews job-related paperwork for correctness: Reviews schedules, pay applications, RFIs, submittals, change orders, shop drawings, and daily reports; ensures all pay applications and change orders are correct.
  8. Closes out construction projects: Ensures contractor submits all closeout documentation, including closeout manuals, as-built drawings, attic stock, and completion of punch list work prior to issuing final payment for the project.
  9. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns
  10. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
  11. Updates and enhances own knowledge by involvement in continuing education for professional growth (i.e., attends relevant conferences, seminars, in-service trainings, and certification programs)
  12. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.

*Qualifications: *

Bachelor's Degree in Management/Construction or a related field required; supplemented by previous experience managing large projects with multiple phases of construction; previous experience as an owner's representative on large construction projects; experience in managing construction projects that involve coordination with occupied spaces throughout the duration of construction; experience in planning, design, specifying, budgeting, contracting and management of construction; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess a valid driver's license under the laws of the State of Ohio.
