Medical Mutual of Ohio Data Quality Analyst I-IV in Brooklyn, Ohio

Data Quality Analyst I-IV

The Data Quality Analyst within the Enterprise Data & Analytics department is responsible for participating in the successful resolution of daily workflow activities within the Data Quality team including but not limited to data profiling, cleansing, validation, enrichment as well as implementation of quality standards across multiple data domains. The Data Quality Analyst will participate in implementing, baselining, monitoring & reporting some quality metrics, in cooperation with Data Owners/Stewards.

The Data Quality Analyst will utilize their communication skills to build collaborative business relationships with Data Owners/Stewards. The Analyst will work with the Owners/Stewards’ on quality-related activities with the established polices & procedures of the Data Governance Office (DGO), Compliance, Legal and Security departments to meet business needs.

The Data Quality Analyst will assist the DGO, Compliance, Legal and Security with strategy, policy and procedure implementation of approved changes as needed.

Responsibilities

Data Quality Analyst I-V

  • Data Quality Policies and Procedures : Learn & share data quality policies and procedures that guide the organization in maintaining data quality standards. Work with the team to see that these policies are adhered to.

  • Problem solving: Demonstrate aptitude for identifying complex data issues and developing effective solutions, often in collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Attention to detail: Demonstrate focus on accuracy and precision when managing critical data elements

  • Communication: Learn to convey technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and actively listening to gather requirements and address concerns

  • Collaboration: Demonstrate aptitude & refine ability to work efficiently with various teams, departments and stakeholders to achieve common data-related objectives

  • Data Profiling: Utilize data profiling tools and techniques to analyze and understand the characteristics of MMO's data, including identifying data anomalies, outliers, missing values, and other data quality issues.

  • Data Cleansing: Participate in cleansing and correcting data inconsistencies and errors with data stewards. Assist with implementing business processes and technical changes to remove or rectify duplicate records, missing information, and other data inaccuracies.

  • Data Standardization: Participate in the establishment and enforcement of data standards and conventions with data stewards. Implement procedures to see that data is consistently structured, labeled, and formatted, making it easier to compare and analyze.

  • Data Validation: Participate in the implementation of validation rules and checks to ensure that incoming data adheres to predefined standards and business rules, thus limiting or preventing the entry of erroneous or incomplete data.

  • Data Enrichment: Participate in the enrichment of data by supplementing it with additional information from trusted sources, both internal and external, in cooperation with data stewards. Learn to enhance the completeness and accuracy of the data.

  • Data Quality Training: Learn how to train and educate to data stewards and data entry personnel on best practices for maintaining data quality.

  • Data Quality Monitoring : Continuously monitor the quality of data to identify and address issues in real-time, including the set up of automated monitoring systems and alerts to inform data stewards of anomalies.

  • Data Quality Reporting: Utilize data quality reports and dashboards to provide insights into the overall health of MMO's data. Share these with stakeholders & data stewards to demonstrate data quality improvements or identify areas that require attention.

  • Data Quality Metrics: Quantify data quality and track improvements over time from established key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Learn how to conduct root cause analysis to identify the underlying reasons for data problems in cooperation with data stewards.

  • Training: Remain current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovations in data governance, data management, and data privacy.

  • Data governance: Familiarity with data governance practices, policies and frameworks to ensure compliance with data management rules and regulations

  • Metrics: Maintain effective KPIs to manage data integrity, and SLA adherence.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Data Quality Analyst I

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations and/or Supply Chain

  • 0-1 year working within a Data Governance organization, or equivalent experience

Professional Certifications

  • (optional) Certification in Data Management

  • (optional) DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

  • (optional) Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Skills/knowledge/configuration experience with manual and/or automated Quality processes and tools

  • Aptitude for data analysis and critical thinking skills

  • Process Automation & Quality Improvement mindset

  • Ability to form relationships, collaborate and influence across the enterprise

  • Good SQL skills, BI tools, preferably Power BI and/or Tableau

  • Good written, verbal & presentation communication skills

Data Quality Analyst II

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations and/or Supply Chain

  • 2-3 years working within a Data Governance organization, or equivalent experience

Professional Certifications

  • (optional) Certification in Data Management

  • (optional) DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)

  • (optional) Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Skills/knowledge/configuration experience with manual and/or automated Quality processes and tools

  • Aptitude for data analysis and critical thinking skills

  • Process Automation & Quality Improvement mindset

  • Ability to form relationships, collaborate and influence across the enterprise

Education and Experience

  • 5 years working within a Data Governance organization, or equivalent experience

Professional Certifications

  • (optional) Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Very strong skills/knowledge/configuration experience with manual and/or automated Quality processes and tools

Education and Experience

  • 7 years working within a Data Governance organization, or equivalent experience

Professional Certifications

  • (optional) Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced skills/knowledge/configuration experience with manual and/or automated Quality processes and tools
