Job Description Summary
Service Principal Engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Define standard work and targets for the modalities around service Tools, field replaceable unit and repair product requirements
Drive roadmaps and technology vision for top service elements and drive consistency across all GE modalities and regions
Develop strategic growth opportunity for services technology portfolio at the business level
Collaborate with GE Healthcare business and functional partners and technology leadership to define and then own high priority, high impact projects focused on Maintenance, Remote Service and Diagnostic Product Requirements
Lead design development for advance technology projects by coordinating efforts with other principal engineers and explore multiple design options.
Enable fast prototyping of new technologies by owning design, modeling and implementation.
Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages Service requirements, specifications and flow down. Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
Developing specialized knowledge in Service discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Systems Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college with 10 years of experience
Experience in Medical Device design and regulations
Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements for Medical Devices
Demonstrated project leadership and influencing skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Design for Serviceability and Reliability experience
Desired Characteristics
Masters or PhD Degree in Engineering or equivalent (defined as 12 years progressive experience within engineering, science, or related field, including 5 years project leadership experience within Service, manufacturing, development, or research development)
Strong team player – collaborates well with others in global locations to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with all levels of an organization
Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint
Change oriented –champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly
Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change across the segment products
Demonstrated LEAN skills
