dsm-firmenich Category Manager Packaging Procurement Europe in Barcelona, Spain

Location: SpainPlace of work: Hybrid

The role will drive the realization and implementation of the strategy for the Category, within companies' requirements and guidelines, to ensure results on all agreed goals with BU and Group functions, and to contribute to the overall result of dsm-firmenich.

Key responsibilities:

  • (Co) -Develop (regional) category strategy and approved plan for his/her category to optimize Total Cost of Ownership, drive sustainability and encourage (supplier) innovation. Contribute to the dsm-firmenich Indirect Package strategy development.

  • Ensure supply availability and quality, lead deployment of the strategy in the Category and assign priorities for procurement projects.

  • Manage procurement projects in close alignment with involved stakeholders and procurement colleagues (buyers).

  • Initiate competitive bidding process, lead price negotiations, ensure valid and up to date sourcing framework agreements for all spend (contract coverage).

  • Key account management for Key suppliers. Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers and track their performance (Supplier Development Program).

  • Manage knowledge sharing, category updates, collaboration and proper communication between Category managers and buyers within Category by providing strategy and deep package expertise and ensure the use of standardized processes and the application of proven best practices.

  • Improve and reinforce the Indirect Procurement profile and recognition within the internal stakeholder community and resolve issues upon request from senior management

You bring

  • Bachelors' degree in relevant expertise area required, Master’s degree preferred.

  • English required, German/French/Spanish/other languages is a key plus

  • Min 5 years category expertise in either Procurement or Business context

  • Good negotiation, contracting and change management skills., Strategic thinking & creativity, Collaboration excellence, SAP Ariba experience is a plus.

  • Effective communication, influencing & motivating others

  • Own and deliver the outcome.
